Historically, increase price at Japan is a challenging job. Several years ago, insurance companies at Japan were facing a cost up. It is unaffordable for the insurance companies. Hence, the companies decided to increase their price of insurance. A strong disagreement for the decision had comes from the society sooner.
Japanese have different view to business compare to the people come form the rest of the world. Ask a simple question, which is “which category of people is most important for a company?” at different country. The people from different country may have different answer for surely. Probably, government officer is the most important category of people for Chinese companies and stockholders are most important for American companies. However, at Japan the answer must be “customer”.
Be a customer at Japan is like to be a god at the other countries. There is no prouder thing than to answer all the requirements from their customers for Japanese companies. Because of this, the productions and services at Japan really pay attention to the detail. It is very rare to find something, which is unsatisfied for a person from overseas.
Customers a Japan have growth at the environment, which is filled up by the high quality productions and services. Consequently, the people at Japan concern the price seriously when they act as a customer.
On the other view, be a customer is only half part of human being’s life. Another part of human being’s life is to produce something as an employee. A person has two roles that they are consumer and producer. Buy cheap and high quality stuff is the mission for every consumer. Do easier job and earn more is the mission for every employee.
The mission of consumer and the mission of employee may not be satisfied at same time and the two missions are a confliction. Look at nowadays Japanese society, it seems like Japanese prefer more to be a good customer than a good employee and employees at Japan put too many proud to their job. Hence, it is already impossibly for Japan to increase their labour price.
